Most people are often confused as to the actual difference between what is referred to as vegan foods as compared to vegetarian foods. In fact I must confess that not so long ago I was also very confused indeed on this account.

To me both of these sounded almost the same. So I was very much relieved when I finally got to know the difference between these two terms. I have used the Little Spoon Promo Code to get a better picture of the vegan world. It has sorted out the confusion in my mind and now I even try to explain it to others.

Plant Based is Good, Right?

One thing most proponents of vegan food would agree on is that it definitely includes plant based food. Of that we can be sure.

The world is in fact moving to vegan or plant based foods in greater numbers every day. This is because it is considered healthy and wholesome and is free of the pollutants of mechanized farming. In fact this is one of the main reasons why organic farming has caught on in the world today.

The Case for Herbivorous Man

In fact, some religious leaders, pundits and even social influencers would have us believe that mankind was created to be herbivorous or plant eaters.

From the Very Beginning

If you even looked at the story of Adam and Eve in the Book of Genesis in the Holy Bible, you would find that the serpent tempted Eve with an apple from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, right. Apple was the plant food that was used for temptation. So that should lay to rest the confusion once and for all.

A Medical Reason

A second reason that is based on anatomy is that scientists claim that the makeup of kinds of teeth in our mouths in terms of number and placement of incisors, molars, premolars and the rest, would indicate and support the fact that we are meant to be herbivorous or plant eating creatures.

A Way of Worship

There are also the religious cults like Buddhism which follows the concept of Ahimsa or non-violence to all creatures that would support the cause of veganism or vegetarianism, because it believes in giving peace and respect to all living, breathing organisms.

Supreme Respect

There is in fact even a branch of worship called Jainism, where the followers of this belief system even refrain from eating eggs or anything that is of the produce of the Earth. Makes me wonder what they do eat if at all, and what are their foods sources and means of sustaining their daily existence. Some food for thought for a separate blog, I think.

Removing the Confusion

Quite clearly, plant based or vegan food eaters have their own issues to face. The choices though considered healthy are rather restrictive.

Vegan diet staples include vegetables, fruits, whole grains, soy, legumes, beans, nuts, and seeds. Some develop health issues due to lack of the B-12 vitamin and other nutrition deficiencies.
